Travelling from Grenoble to Val Thorens takes you to Europe’s highest ski resort. Situated at an altitude of 2,300 metres in the Belleville Valley, Val Thorens offers reliable high-altitude conditions and an extended winter season that generally runs from November until May.
The local Val Thorens ski area provides approximately 150 km of pistes, with most of its terrain located above 2,000 metres. As part of Les 3 Vallées, visitors can also explore 600 km of interconnected slopes across resorts including Les Menuires, Meribel and Courchevel.
Beginners can develop their confidence on gentle slopes close to the resort, while intermediate skiers can explore the broad high-altitude bowl surrounding Val Thorens. More experienced visitors can tackle steeper terrain around Cime de Caron or discover off-piste routes with a qualified mountain guide.
Val Thorens is also known for its ski-in, ski-out accommodation and lively atmosphere. Away from the pistes, activities include tobogganing, snowshoeing, ziplining, ice driving and spa experiences. Its restaurants and après-ski venues provide plenty of options when the lifts close.
